Not Forgotten… Filled with Hope

Greetings from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!

It is day 3 for me working with the Korah community here in Addis.

I joined the “Man Up” team as part of my sponsorship with Visiting Orphans on Monday after a LONG weekend trying to get here.

My flight out of Nashville Saturday morning was delayed 2 hours which caused me to miss all my other connects.

I finally landed here Monday morning at 8:30 and was taken to meet up with the “Man Uppers” at the Great Hope Center in the Korah community, an urban slum with an estimated 130 000 people in the city of Addis Ababa.

We hung out with the kids and did renovation work in some homes in the area the first day. Yesterday we did a VBS program with the kids and finished up the work on the homes.

We will be with the Korah people again today. They are so precious! Many of the older people in the colony are lepers and they come to the GH Center each day for lunch.

I have been overwhelmed by the privilege it has been to serve them these past couple of days!

And once again I have loved seeing how kids are kids all over the world! We start singing and doing motions and loving on them and they start smiling and engaging!

Me and my new buddy, Kuter

One man told us yesterday that even though the conditions they live in are so difficult, just seeing teams like ours coming to help out fills them with hope… knowing that there are people in other parts of the world who are aware of them and care… that they are not forgotten.

I will be posting more next week. Please continue to stand with our team in prayer. They are an amazing group of people! I am blessed and grateful to be serving alongside them!

By Faith!

Praying for you in these days. My heart and gut is torn up over the situation in Somalia and Eastern Kenya. Whew…….700,000 children……..may not make it due to starvation and drought.
May His Holy Spirit guide your every step.
