Jeff Slaughter To Appear At Nashville Barnes & Noble Book Signing Saturday, July 13
Singer/Songwriter, Worship Leader and Author To Present Debut Book at Vanderbilt University Area Bookstore
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 8, 2013) - Singer/songwriter, worship leader and author Jeff Slaughter, best known to millions as the composer behind Lifeway’s Vacation Bible School’s most beloved songs, is scheduled to appear at Barnes & Noble Bookstore to sign his debut book, It’s All True: Walking By Faith in a Funky World. Slaughter will be at the Barnes & Noble at 2501 West End Ave. in the Vanderbilt University area at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13.
“I’ve been going to the Vandy Barnes & Noble for years and never knew I would experience one of the most epic moments of my life there!” Slaughter says of the West End Avenue location.
The day It’s All True was released, Slaughter stopped by the Nashville Barnes & Noble at the suggestion of a friend, with whom he had been eating breakfast.
“Up to that moment, honestly, it hadn’t even occurred to me that my book might be in the store,” Slaughter says.
When he and his friend arrived at the bookstore, Slaughter asked Kate Hasting, a clerk, if the book was in stock.
“As Kate checked on the computer, my worst fear was that she would turn and say they had no record of it,” says Slaughter. “But, she didn’t! She turned around, smiled and said, ‘Yes—let me help you find them.’ When Kate pulled the copies off the shelf and handed them to me, the world shifted into a dream sequence. It was truly one of the most surreal moments of my life! After that, I met the manager and several other staff members and it turned into a party! I can’t wait to go back for the signing!
It’s All True, Slaughter’s autobiography co-written with Randy Winton, was released May 21 by Skyhorse Publishing. Slaughter shares captivating stories of divine appointments and everyday miracles that challenge readers to be on the lookout for God’s miraculous interventions in their own lives. And, whether sharing stories of his success as a Christian musician, his grief over losing both of his parents to cancer, his tales of childhood growing up along the Mississippi Delta or his hilariously awkward retelling of personal family matters, Slaughter reaffirms that it is possible to thrive in a funky world.
“I love a good story. A good one at the right time can change your life. Reading Jeff’s has certainly affected mine,” friend and music superstar Amy Grant writes in the book’s foreword. “There are pivotal moments in all our lives, but rarely has one man’s courageous story so gracefully expressed the perseverance, hope—and, yes, faith—we all rely on to get by.”
Industry experts estimate that more than 46 million people have sung Slaughter’s songs throughout the world. The inspiration for some of his most touching and meaningful songs comes from the experiences he recounts in It’s All True, including the song entitled “It’s All True.” From his childhood in Greenwood, Miss., to his world tours through Vacation Bible School, Slaughter’s story will speak to those who search for faith, and for the hope that life will lead them beyond their present circumstance.
It’s All True is available at major retailers, including LifeWay Christian Bookstores, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million and Amazon.
