Vision to Reality

This past weekend a vision I’ve had for quite a while became a reality!

The vision started a few years ago when FBC Choctaw, OK asked me to lead a family Disciple NOW weekend for their church and it was amazing! I could feel the Lord’s pleasure all over it. Afterwards I began dreaming about doing family worship events.

Since many times on Sundays and Wednesdays kids and parents are going in all different directions, I wanted to bring families together in a relaxed atmosphere where they could enjoy just being together, praying together and worshiping together.

I wanted to encourage them to make family devotions/discipleship a part of their daily life.

When I started thinking about a speaker to partner with the first person who came to mind was my buddy, Tom Blackaby.

Years ago Tom wrote an incredible book called “The Family God Uses” and I knew he would be a perfect fit! I contacted him last year about it and he was ready to jump on board.

This past weekend we did our first Family Worship Weekend event at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence, SC and it was a blast!

The worship times were super sweet and Tom’s teaching was totally captivating.

I was also blessed to have my road manager/sound guy, Jeremy McCullough and my merch guy, Andrew Bache with me as well. They are my band of brothers on the road!

    The Worship Weekend changed my heart! Tom Blackaby opened God’s Word and my heart! Jeff lead an amazing time of expressing our love to God, His Word, and for others. It was an awesome worship time! God’s family expressing love for each other and praying together.
    Tom and Jeff are great ministry partners! Their love for God and God’s anointing on them is apparent in all they said and did. The presence of the Holy Spirit lingered over us. The love of God is powerful and life changing.
    I highly recommend them to anyone and I would love to attend again. I also highly recommend Tom Blackaby’s books, “The Family God Uses” and “Experiencing God’s Love in the Church,” but be prepared to examine your heart, then follow up with action.
    My husband and I arrived at Ebenezer Baptist Church as visitors, but in a few moments we knew we were in the loving presence of the family of God. We are thankful to God for an overwhelming weekend and even the 9 hour trip home (time to pray, ponder and prepare for God’s will.)

      Joyce, Jeff, & ALL the Blackeby’s have been instrumental parts in my spiritual walk. I’m certain that each of you experienced God in this “new” way! Don’t let anything get in the way of this movement… The Lord led us to do “Family Retreats” before I yeilded to full-pay vocational service… I didn’t realize then how powerful these events were. Hindsight tells me that I let tradition, denominational prejudice, and unwritten rules hinder this amazing movement!

      I’m no longer turning back; following God on His path is scary, but exciting… don’t be affraid of the roller-coaster… tick, tick, tick, tick, … lift your hands, it is gonna be AMA

    After years of dreaming about possibilities, God finally allowed Jeff and I to partner in ministry together with families. It was awesome to be able to minister with a church that was ready to hear God speak. They had done all the praying ahead of time so God’s Spirit was free to move in their hearts and reveal His ways and His purposes for them. It was refreshing for me also as I watched God’s people celebrate His presence and enjoy being “family” with one another.

    I stand by my previous observations: Jeff Slaughter is clinically insane … NAHHHHHH! I just wrote something in the EBC Newsletter that basically stated: The reason Family Worship Weekend was so awesome was that Jeff and Tom were willing to follow the Holy Spirit!! Praying the fires keep burning and the results of this encounter with God have far reaching effects in Florence and in our world!!! Love ya, bud!!!

    Hi Jeff- I really loved reading your recap of the worship weekend. It is with deepest heartfelt gratitude that I thank you and Tom for providing this time for us to reconnect and recharge, not just as individual families, but as a church family. It was truly and honor to spend this precious time in worship and to see the children (and adults) get so excited to worship in such an active and involved way.

    As I’ve shared with some others, my favorite moment was in the first night as you asked for us to call out all of the names of the Lord. What a remarkable and humbling feeling to know that we can call on Him in so many ways. I also loved hearing children recite their favorite scriptures, by memory- WOW!

    Thanks again to everyone that had a hand in planning and seeing this event through. We are all blessed because of you, your vision and your obedience to God’s family.

    Jeff, what a blessed sounding event!! I will pray God will bring more of these into your life, we do serve a AWESOME God but we need to get out His way and let Him bring it!!!     ~Hello Jeff…..This weekend was AWESOME bc families grew closer to God within EBC and beyond!!! Our praise and worship times are ones that I will never forget bc I saw tears of joy and then tears of hurt on some. The cool thing is that God used us to LOVE and PRAY over those without hesistation and our kids witnessed it all :) We do get so consumed with our daily grind that we sometimes put GOD in a box limiting what HE does in our families lives. But this Family Weekend reminded me of how MIGHTY OUR GOD is and HE has a WILL for us ALL in HIS time. EBC experienced God’s Love and I thank you & Tom for taking us there!!! So looking forward to the next time!!! :)

    God moved in such a MIGHTY way through you and Tom last weekend to reach out to our families. Satan is attacking our families so evidently, even within the church, and now more than ever we must put on our armor. Thank you for bringing your ministry to EBC. You helped to ignite a fire in my home as well as in our church family. I don’t believe you left the same church you entered.
