Full Week… Full Heart
So I’ve had the past week off and it has been awesome!
After getting back to Nashville from my Aunt Linda’s Miracle Party last week (read more about the Miracle Party here…), the party theme just kept going… and so did the miracles:
One of my buddies, Andrew, from the Visiting Orphans “Man Up” trip I took to Ethiopia recently, came to visit for a couple of days.
I got to have dinner with my childhood friend, Suzy, who was in town for work.
I had a dinner party at my house Friday night.
My buddy Alex from Lebanon was recently granted his citizenship here and we celebrated that Saturday night.
Sunday morning I led the kids at my church, Grace Center, in a few of the Big Apple songs for the service and they rocked it!
That night I was in Memphis for my cousin Donnie’s birthday party.
And finally, since Monday I’ve been at my sister Vickie’s home in MS. Many of you know she was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy 23 years ago. For the past 10 years her mobility has been limited to a walker and a wheelchair.
In April, she had a bad fall in her home and was suddenly completely paralyzed! After several MRI’s her doctor discovered a genetic bone spur in her back that had been gradually shutting down her spine. At that point, her spine was functioning at 20%! He told her that this could have been the problem all along and not MD. He also said he could remove the spur and she could possibly be walking without a walker in a year.
Miraculous news after 23 years!
She had surgery in July and is finishing up her first month of physical therapy. Today she was able to get in the car and go out to eat for the first time since March!
I am very proud of the work she has been doing, and even more so today as I watched her stand up completely straight with the walker for the first time in years. My heart is full and incredibly blessed!
By faith!
